To the left of our front door there’s an old wall sconce with a yellow glass orb. It’s always been pretty dirty and threw off a bright but diffuse light. Yesterday the bulb blew so I got a new one. Since it has a translucent glass orb I got an incandescent clear glass bulb for the best visual effect. I took the time to dismantle the orb and wash all the dust and paint flecks and other muck off it. When reassembled the effect when illuminated was quite startling:
